We aspire to create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to fully engage with us.

We are dedicated to meeting your accessibility requirements and continuously learning to make necessary improvements. Our goal is to create an engaging and inclusive environment that accommodates a wide range of accessibility needs.

Our commitment to our customers

We are constantly working on improving our customers' lives and increasing their access to our channels and facilities. While our actions may differ across the states we operate in, our goal remains the same in all of them. You can check each one on their websites or check our highlights below.

We're here for our vulnerable customers

Financial support

We provide financial support for households going through a variety of situations.

Senior benefits

In NY, if you are 62 years of age or older, you may pay your bill on a quarterly basis rather than each month. For Berkshire Gas customers, households with all members over 65 are protected from disconnection.

Priority

In CT and NY, customers dependent on life support systems are prioritized during outages. CMP customers who need an oxygen pump or ventilator may be eligible to receive bill credits.

Our goal is to conform to the WCAG 2.2 guidelines and we have a plan!

We acknowledge that our website currently has accessibility issues that need to be addressed. We are committed to identifying and remediating them to improve our overall experience.

We hired Deque Systems to run an accessibility audit and are currently working to remediate the issues that were found. Here are some of our top priorities:

We aim to provide text alternatives for non-text content (like images, videos, charts and graphics). It helps people who use screen readers and other other assistive technology to interact with it.

We are working towards making our website fully navigable using a keyboard. It is essential for people who struggle with coordination and tracking the mouse cursor.

We are re-checking all our current website content to ensure it’s readable and understandable for all our customers, regardless of their background or ability.

We are making sure that our assets have a contrast ratio of at least 7:1 between text and background. This improves readability and eases eye strain.

We are working with color palettes that are distinguishable by individuals with various types of color vision deficiencies.

We are working on maintaining consistent navigation across our website.

These efforts were supported by our robust employee resource group, CARE. It aims to improve support and understanding for people with various disabilities, as well as their caregivers and allies. It creates a safe space for open dialogue and empathy among our customers, employees and suppliers.
