Avangrid’s renewable energy business got its start in the West and is currently based out of Portland, Oregon. In Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington, Avangrid operates 27 onshore wind and solar energy projects with a combined capacity of 2.8 GW. These projects serve utilities and commercial & industrial customers across the region, supporting their clean energy goals.

In addition to a portfolio of renewable energy assets in the region, Avangrid’s National Control Center (NCC) is located in Vancouver, Washington and serves as a state-of-the-art, 24x7 system control room that manages the generation from Avangrid’s entire renewable energy portfolio. Staff perform many mission-critical functions which allow the company to meet safety, regulatory, contractual, and business obligations. Avangrid also operates the only independent generation-only Balance Authority in the region, which operates out of the NCC.

Avangrid’s National Training Center (NTC) is located near many of the Company’s existing projects in Sherman County, Oregon. Opened in the summer of 2024, the NTC is a world-class training facility that provides hands-on training to employees across wind and solar technologies.
