Applications Open for Avangrid Foundation’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Grant Program

Organizations within Avangrid’s service areas are invited to apply for grants to support the care and protection of habitats and wildlife
 

ORANGE, Conn. — Nov. 1, 2024 — The Avangrid Foundation, the philanthropic arm of leading sustainable energy company Avangrid, Inc. (NYSE: AGR), announced today that it has opened applications for its 2024 Wildlife Rehabilitation Program on Friday, Nov. 1. The company welcomes eligible wildlife organizations within its service areas to apply by midnight, November 22, 2024.  

“This program has grown year over year and we’re proud we’ve been able make an impact and assist organizations providing critical care and protection to wildlife and habitats in the communities we serve,” said Pablo Colón, Executive Director, Avangrid Foundation & Director of Corporate Citizenship at Avangrid. “Last year was a record-breaking year for this program and the funds were used to combat the Avian Influenza, stranded seal recovery, build new shelters, purchase nutritious food and much more. We look forward to reviewing the applications.”

Since the program was launched in 2016, Avangrid Foundation’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Program has given a total of more than $640,000 to centers nationwide. Its goals include supporting local organizations caring for injured wildlife, promoting public outreach and education about wildlife resources and renewable energy, and strengthening relationships with the environmental community where the company operates.

To be eligible to receive a grant, organizations must: 

  • Be a 501(c)(3) organization or qualified entity.
  • Have a primary mission that includes wildlife rehabilitation.
  • Have more than one year of operating activity.
  • Hold current, applicable permits from the appropriate agencies to handle and rehabilitate wildlife.
