AVANGRID Employees Help Make a Global Impact During 12th Annual Iberdrola International Volunteer Day
ORANGE, Connecticut — Oct. 1, 2018 — Employees of AVANGRID, Inc. (NYSE: AGR) joined family and friends across the country last weekend to help improve the communities where they live and work.
More than 350 volunteers pitched in for Volunteer Day, an international charitable event organized by the Iberdrola Group, which is AVANGRID’s majority shareowner. AVANGRID is a diversified U.S. energy company based in Orange, Connecticut.
Working with local nonprofit organizations, employee volunteers participated in more than 20 activities, coast to coast. They worked in a soup kitchen in West Haven, Connecticut. In Rochester, New York, they released fingerling lake sturgeon into the Genesee River. In Portland, Oregon and Binghamton, New York, they stocked food pantry shelves. And they helped the Audubon Society stage an arts-and-crafts fund-raiser in Falmouth, Maine.
The activities were organized by AVANGRID and its subsidiaries, including Avangrid Renewables, Berkshire Gas, Central Maine Power, Connecticut Natural Gas, Maine Natural Gas, New York State Electric & Gas, Rochester Gas & Electric, Southern Connecticut Gas and United Illuminating.
Iberdrola oversees a global Volunteer Day event in all of the countries where it has affiliated businesses, including Spain, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Brazil, and the United States. Now in its 12th year, the objective of Iberdrola International Volunteer Day is to harness employees’ community spirit in support of projects that align with the corporation’s values.
