Iberdrola and Avangrid Reaffirm Commitment to Executing the Investment Plan by 2030, Helping Achieve President Trump’s Priority of American Energy Dominance
ORANGE, Conn. — January 20, 2025 — Iberdrola and Avangrid, Inc., today announced that Iberdrola and Avangrid received an invitation to the Inauguration of President Donald J. Trump in Washington, D.C. As a leading energy company, Iberdrola and Avangrid serve more than 3.3 million homes and business customers in major metropolitan areas, through its eight electric and natural gas companies in New York and New England, and operates energy generation facilities in 23 states across the U.S. Iberdrola and Avangrid were also invited to several events to engage with congressional and federal leaders.
With electric demand in the United States projected to grow by as much as 16% by 2030, Iberdrola and Avangrid are demonstrating the need for critical investments in transmission, distribution, and grid expansion, modernization, and resilience. Avangrid currently operates $15 billion of regulated networks assets in the Northeast. Nearly $11.1 billion of committed investments are already underway in New York, Maine, Connecticut, and Massachusetts to upgrade and expand electricity and natural gas transmission and distribution infrastructure, and for the next five years through 2030, an additional $9 billion investments are planned through new rate cases in New York, Connecticut, and Maine.
Additionally, Iberdrola and Avangrid through its portfolio that includes more than 75 generation facilities, are delivering over 9 gigawatts of energy to over 2 million homes and businesses in 23 states in the U.S. These facilities along with current and future electric and gas distribution projects will help each state, and the country, meet the growing demand for electricity, but deliver important community benefits by creating jobs, boosting economic growth, and contributing to the local tax base. In total, Iberdrola and Avangrid are projected to invest over $20 billion in U.S. networks up to 2030 and have further optional growth opportunities in generation of more than $10 billion to help meet the energy demand of the U.S.
